President’s Welcome Message
Greetings from the Greater Essex County Chapter (GECC) of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.
I have the esteemed privilege of serving as the 2025-2027 chapter president of our community of 76 dynamic mothers and families.
We are proudly situated within the Mighty Eastern Region under the leadership of Regional Director Fatimah Moody, with mother members in East Orange, Essex Fells, Livingston, Maplewood, Montclair, Newark, Orange, South Orange, Verona, and West Orange, New Jersey.
GECC was founded 25 years ago by our 48 Founding GECC Jewels. They endeavored to create a Jack & Jill chapter that sought to create a culturally aware community for the next generation of Black leaders with a focus on education, social/recreation, health, and civic responsibility that would be both responsive and inclusive to the needs of modern mothers and their families.
As we celebrate this 25-year milestone during our 2025-26 program year, we acknowledge the contributions of our members and families of today and yesterday as the chapter continues to grow and evolve in service. But our pride continues to grow each year with the service and leadership of our chapter’s extraordinary children, from our senior teens’ outstanding work redesigning and furnishing new residences of the Newark YMCA to GECC’s first-ever Regional Teen Officer, 2025-26 Eastern Regional Treasurer Zera Harvell.
Over the coming program year, it is my commitment to apply our Jack & Jill of America national theme, #WeGotUs to the local level, as our chapter reaffirms its commitment to pour into the next generation of African-American leaders both within our membership and in the Essex County community.
Thank you for visiting our home on the web. We also invite you to follow us on Instagram @greateressex, where we provide more frequent updates about our dynamic community and our chapter’s activities and events.
Yours in Jack & Jill,
Alliah Agostini Livingstone
2025-27 President
